PAST PROJECTS

BACKYARD LAP POOL

In the height of 2020, with most of the country at home, homeowners were keen to make some renovations. With no ability to leave the house, transforming backyard spaces into a private getaway was crucial for many homeowners.

That was especially the case for these clients, who were avid swimmers until the shutdown closed the gym where they would swim. When these Los Angeles homeowners came to Pacific Outdoor Living with the idea of building their own lap pool, we knew just the designer to help them.

BEFORE

This home was a blank canvas with a large amount of space to work with. The backyard was primarily grass and lacked a wow-factor. It had minimal entertaining areas and an outdated patio that was in need of an upgrade.

The Plan

Julian, a seasoned landscape and hardscape designer, met with the homeowners over zoom and listened to their wish list. They shared their ideas and Julian discussed potential budgets.

From there, Julian drafted some preliminary sketches that lead to more discussions on budget as well as design style.

Plan

The design revolved around a 60-foot lap pool, however, the customer wanted to be sure that the backyard design integrated with the flow of the preexisting house as much as possible. With that in mind, the style Julian suggested was modern, linear elements with neutral toned materials and steel structures.

After several design meetings, a final design was created. High quality renderings were made to give the homeowners the ability to fully envision their new backyard before ever breaking ground.

The Construction

With the design solidified, it was time to submit permits with the city. Once the permits were in-hand, demolition began. The use of our own specialty crews for every step of a project enables us to work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The Finished Project

The completed backyard features a lap pool with a paving stone pool deck, an updated seating area covered by a freestanding pergola (as well as two additional steel pergolas), fire features, water features, cooking areas and plenty of space to sit and entertain. The pool itself also included floating steps and a natural stone fountain on one side.

What stemmed from a necessity to carry out a hobby, evolved into an entire backyard renovation that will be used and enjoyed for decades.

At Pacific Outdoor Living, we design with the homeowner in mind. It’s our goal to help the homeowner realize their space’s is full potential. Whether it be a small side-yard or an expansive area- we have the expertise to utilize every inch. Backed by our decades of servicing Southern California, we take pride in being the top landscape designers in Los Angeles County.
